About Our Founders

In 1990, Gwen Arthur and two other ladies were asked by the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of American (SCWTCA) to establish a rescue organization for the club. A Mission Statement was developed. A logo, bylaws, and rescue procedures were established and SCWTCA Rescue was established.
At the conclusion of Gwen Arthur’s tenure as Chairperson of SCWTCA’s Rescue committee in 1998, Gwen, with the support of her husband, Donald, established Wheatens In Need Rescue (WIN). Working with and not competing with SCWTCA, the primary purpose of WIN was to expand inclusiveness to all Wheaten owners across the US and Canada.
WIN was incorporated, obtaining 501(c)3 status by the IRS in October, 1998.
Today, with volunteers across the US and Canada, WIN provides foster care, vet care, and rehoming of all Wheatens in Need.
